Teacher Let the Monkeys Out is both a retrospective and introspective look at some of the issues that confront American public education. The author, David R. Powell, is a teacher with forty-four years of experience in teaching over seven-thousand students in high school and college. Powell offers both serious and humorous insights for readers' to ponder. Powell does not give prescriptive solutions to the issues discussed, but asks that parents, teachers, elected officials, school administrators, colleges of education, state departments of education, and even students give serious consideration to what might be done to make improvements in an ailing public school system--mostly by accepting part of the blame. It should be considered a must-read by anyone interested in our public schools.
