Abstract: The pertinent structural issues which dominate agriculture are discussed in a series of essays. If current trends continue unchecked, there will be only a few mammoth size farms. Improved technology and labor availability have increased farm yields, but higher taxes and capital requirements have reduced profits. Policies designed to aid the industry include fewer program restrictions and commodity price support. The diversification and conglomeration of large food manufacturers enable them to absorb losses. Papers are grouped under the topics of farm production, public policies, marketing, rural America, and the experience of other countries.
