Juan de Arrúe

Biography and art works of 17th century artist Juan de Arrúe, the only colonial painter from the state of Colima, Mexico. Author historian Reyes Garza using mainly secondary sources, located and describes De Arreú's most representative artworks, for the most part lost. Examples still preserved include works in the cities of Mexico (Hospital de Jesus) and Puebla (Hospital de San Pedro and the Cathedral).
