Endometrial hyperplasia is a uterine pathology in which morphological changes happen in the cells of the endometrium and exemplifies a precursor to the most common gynecologic malignancy in developed countries, endometrial cancer. It is most commonly caused by increased estrogen exposure and a relative lack of progesterone, which is known as "unopposed estrogen." Because risk factors are increasing at the same time as obesity, diabetes, or other linked conditions, the condition's incidence is increasing.
