With the industrialization and capitalist exploitation system affecting nearly every part of the world, the image of "Mother Earth," once closely connected with nature and revered by ancient civilizations, has almost disappeared. Women, once the wise stewards of the earth, have become the first victims of nature’s destruction, now owning only about 1% of the land under patriarchy. For women working in small, family-run businesses based on subsistence economies and dependent on the land, the protection of the land has become synonymous with the preservation of the life they are a part of.

However, ecofeminists continue to be inspired by the privileged position women once held in ancient civilizations and are working to restore the destroyed nature, acting as if they are its protectors. Although the environmental threat, which has become a global issue, is often equated with the pollution of the material environment, unless it is seen as a result of spiritual pollution and insatiable greed, which approaches natural heritage from a materialistic and profit-driven perspective, real solutions will not go beyond a utopia.
