Health research, when it does address women's concerns, tends to emphasize and cater to their needs in reproductive health. This book identifies and addresses key gaps in gender and health research, identifies new and emerging themes in women's health, and sets priorities for future action. Issues discussed include gender stereotypes, women's education and health, empowerment and health, nutrition, the research process, AIDS among women, health and the working environment, tropical diseases, barriers to quality health care, health of adolescent girls and older women, women and tobacco, effects of war on health, and violence against women.
