Reducing either thrust or climb airspeed results in reduced sound-pressure levels. Reducing thrust decreases the sound power radiated; decreasing climb airspeed permits the initiation of climb sooner and hence results in increasing the source to observer distance. In general, minimum sound-pressure levels are obtained by using a combination of both minimum thrust and minimum climb speed consistent with satety consideration.
