James J. Ingwersen: Captured Moments In a Painter's Life reveals the painter's raw and deeply poetic approach to his process and subjects. The book, a monograph by Karen Davidson Seward with an excerpt by Miller Art Museum Executive Director Elizabeth Meissner-Gigstead, chronicles Ingwersen's long, productive career as a portrait artist from humble beginnings as a child growing up in suburban Chicago. It offers an exploration of the artist's early years in Chicago, service to Uncle Sam, the exclusive Tree Studios, personal relationships, and of fundamental importance, his journey to and life on the Door County Peninsula in Wisconsin. The book provides an intimate view of the artist's life and includes stories, anecdotes, family photographs and a carefully curated selection of works by the nationally-recognized and locally-beloved and admired artist.
