Specially designed mobile technology software products are known as apps. Today, apps are widely available on smartphones and tablet computers and permit sharing of data across networks and computers. The purpose of this volume is to profile the work and experience of professionals working in the field of special education as they have sought to create apps. The authors will reveal how they discovered new ways to serve individuals with disabilities, their families, and/or professionals that work with them by creating new apps that improve communication, independence, learning, or mobility. Each chapter will feature insight from behind the product development curtain about the lessons learned concerning app design, development, and distribution.
