Short Takes Fiction

Short Takes is an exciting new reading text for intermediate level students. Each thematic unit offers short reading selections from popular contemporary authors. The exercises that follow not only increase students' reading and writing abilities, but encourage them to use critical thinking skills. Unabridged excerpts introduce students to authentic literature in manageable "chunks." Motivating themes include Exploring Difference, Relationships, Mysteries, Going Places, Values, and Milestones. Accompanying exercises include structural, communicative, investigative, and creative activities, which do not focus on text analysis, but use the text as a point for departure.
