An Introduction to Canon Law

This is the first substantial introduction to Canon Law since the Code of Canon Law for the Latin Church was revised in 1983. It is intended for use in introductory courses in Canon Law in schools of theology where men and women prepare for ministry in the Church. It will also prove useful to all persons who hold responsible positions in the Church or who take an active interest in the life of the Church. The twenty-one chapters of this book move step-by-step through the entire Code, explaining, contextualizing, offering background, examples and historical perspective. It introduces the reader to the basic structures of Canon Law, making it possible for the reader to refer intelligently to the Code itself. Two appendices offer guidance for those doing canonical research and case studies for further discussion.
