Stepping into the Lord's Prayer is a testimony of transformational power available to break the cycle of addictions in our lives. "The same year I started seminary I was invited to my first Alcoholics Anonymous meeting by my dad", says Spykstra. "What I experienced that day profoundly impacted my life and ministry. Throughout the meeting I witnessed raw, humble, honesty. The conclusion caught me off guard as the AA group passionately repeated the Lord's Prayer in a way I had never heard before, even in church, I was enthralled.""As time went on I witnessed my father encounter freedom from years of alcoholism by diligently working the 12 Steps and daily praying the Lord's Prayer," says Spykstra, "as I joined my father at AA meetings I wondered-could the 12 Steps go hand-in-hand with the familiar prayer of Jesus?"Each chapter of Stepping Into The Lord's Prayer includes a portion of the Lord's Prayer and one or more steps from the 12 Steps so that the parallels between the two can be clearly presented, thus allowing the reader to gain a better understanding of both of these tools and the knowledge that they point to truth-and that truth "will set you free" (John 8:32).
