Babbitt is a satirical novel by Sinclair Lewis, first published in 1922. The book has little in the way of a plot; merely following the life of George F. Babbitt, a middle aged man as he rails against conformity, only to find similar constraints when he pursues a more rebellious life. A stinging critique of American (and Western) culture and society, particularly middle class life, and the pressure to conform.
