Summarizes 30 papers commissioned from specialists on issues related to the determinants of health that have been identified as critical for vulnerable groups, in key settings and on key factors, such as the impact of economic policy on health. Each paper covered three aspects of the assigned topic: key conclusions from the literature related to the determinants of health; sample success stories that address the problem; and policy implications and advice. Topics of papers include children from disadvantaged populations; child abuse prevention; school to work transition; substance abuse in youth; wise use of prescription medication in seniors; healthy work environments; environmental health; living with a disability; suicide; violence prevention; and labour adjustment policy and health.
