Prehispanic Chiefdoms in the Valle de la Plata, Volume 1

The first of five volumes reporting on the Proyecto Arqueológico Valle de la Plata's long-term archaeological investigation of the development of chiefdoms in Colombia's Alto Magdalena, home to the San Agustín culture. This volume establishes the environmental baseline with an evaluation of variation in the agricultural potential through the Valle de la Plata and a reconstruction of prehistoric climatic change based primarily on the pollen record.
