A Role for Common Property Institutions in Land Redistribution Programmes in South Africa

The author of this article argues that questions of common property management are likely to be important within land reform programmes in South Africa. Conflicts over the various dimensions of common property may surface, but can largely be addressed by approaching common property problems with an adequate understanding of the central issues involved and by making institutional development a prime concern
