Abstract: The sources, symptoms, and management of childhood stress are systematically examined for parents, teachers, counselors, and physicians. Seven stress-inducing topics are separately addressed, covering situations in the home, in divorce, at school, in sports, during hospitalization, stress derived from associations with other children; and in the traumatic events of the death and near-death occurrences in the child's family or friends. Guidelines and advice are presented for relieving stress in children and for teaching them stress-reduction strategies they can carry into adult life. A summary of calming techniqes for children is appended. (wz).
