The Canadian-American Committee believes that more effective means for increasing transfers of natural gas between Canada and the United States should be investigated. Canada is likely to have more gas than it needs. The United States, on the other hand, will have sizable import requirements. These could be supplied from fields in western Canada. Regional exchanges on a seasonal or other short-term basis also appear to have economic merit. Any understanding between our two countries which would facilitate these arrangements and, at the same time, avoid a duplication of pipelines and other services is, therefore, likely to benefit producers and consumers on both sides of the International Boundary.
