Adolescence is a turbulent period, a time when young people are particularly prone to engage in risky behaviour. But how can we restrain young people from taking risks? and does taking risks in one area lead to 'disinhibition' and therefore to risk-taking in others? Risk-Takers offers a comprehensive and critical review of youthful involvement with smoking, drinking, illicit drug use and sexual activity, including risks during pregnancy. there is evidence to suggent that some forms of risks-taking are interconnected, and that poverty and social disadvantage can increase vulnerability.
