The main objective of this study is to provide empirical support for the continued existence of credit rationing in a deregulated financial system. This study will establish the existence of credit rationing among banks in the rural financial markets of the Philippines, and determine the rationing mechanisms used by each type of bank, namely: rural banks, private development banks, and branches of commercial banks, in allocating credit.
