"This volume, the second of mine to appear in the Variorum 'Collected Studies' series, continues from where its predecessor broke off at the end of the twentieth century, and brings together fourteen studies in Ottoman and Mediterranean history which were published between 2000 and 2009....The fourteen studies collected here need little by way of introduction.
