Wine and Thorns in Tokay Valley

A religious, social, political and cultural history of the Jewish community of Abaújszántó, based on primary sources, archival records, and newspapers as well as personal experiences of the author (a Holocaust survivor) and some 80 other survivors from Hungary, Austria, Israel, and the U.S. Pp. 181-216 deal with the effects of the Nazi regime in Germany on this region, and with the Holocaust period, including the Nazi occupation in March 1944. Relates the deportation of the Jews to the Košice ghetto and from there to Nazi concentration camps. Pp. 268-276 contain lists of the Jewish victims and survivors from Abaújszántó.
