The Adventures of a Demobilised Officer who Found Peace Dull. Published in 1920, this was the first in a series of thrillers featuring ex-British Army Captain Hugh "Bull-Dog" Drummond by H. C. (Herman Cyril) McNeile, using the penname "Sapper", who became the author's best-known creation.
