George C. Marshall

"Those who are troubled about the future of the Army should consider the leadership and vision of General Marshall in times of danger and despair. General Marshall knew a time when the Army was neglected and generally spurned by the public, but he fought staunchly to preserve the nation's military strength. He recognized a need for this strength as a deterrent to aggression. The prevention of war was and is just as vital a mission for the military as the winning of it. Our indebtedness to General George C. Marshall, soldier and stateman, will become more clearly defined as history continues to chronicle his contribution." --
