This compilation has omitted specific information such as the month and day of birth, the dates of marriages, the spouses of the siblings and the siblings' birth and death dates. The narrative is a story both personal and representative. The author uses passages of historical prose such as court records, conveyances, the deed of sale signed by Wanack-Mamack, Chief Sachem of Nantucket, letters home, wills, inventories. The narrative closes with a genealogy of the Barnards.
