The 6th edition of a reference manual for beginners and experienced gardeners, which was first published in 1972. It contains descriptions of trees and shrubs with information as to colour, size and habit. There are sections on nomenclature and classification, planting, pruning and garden planning, an illustrated glossary and notes on horticultural awards.
