Implementing "The race to the top"

This publication is a companion document to the White Paper (Cm. 7345, Innovation Nation, ISBN 9780101734523) and is a progress report on Lord Sainsbury's original Review (HM Treasury, ISBN 9781845323561, http://www.hm-treasury.gov.uk/media/5/E/sainsbury_review051007.pdf) on the Government's science and innovation policies, which was entitled "The Race to the Top", and was originally issued in October 2007. This document sets out the Government's progress on delivering the recommendations as set out in the orginal Review. It is divided into 10 chapters and looks at the progress made under the following chapter headings, including: the race to the top; the innovation ecosystem; the Technology Strategy Board; knowledge transfer; intellectual property, standards and metrology; the supply of venture capital; education a new generation of young scientists and engineers; Government departments; the science and innovation strategies for the Regional Development Agencies (RDAs); global collaboration.
