T he man froze like an old pine hard on its sap. He looked mean, but he fell like am old bed board that had sacrificed its life for the pleasure of others. The dogs licked his face. On the ground, he did not look that old and besides he slipped on the gravel. "Get these dogs off of me," said the man. Amie allowed herself a cluck in her throat as she watched him wrestle with the dogs that were having way too much fun to give up on him. When the man pulled out a knife, Amie shot him in the foot. The bullet went clean through his left foot into the road never to be seen or heard from again. Amie took the man's knife, and calmly reflected the moon was full up.
