"About a Little Girl"

This book contains: An original William Carlos Williams poem, Essays by Michael Lund & Robert W. Hamblin, and Afterwords by Suzy Williams Sinclaire & Daphne Williams Fox (granddaughters of William Carlos Williams). "Literature, at its best, reminds us of what it means to be human, connected to families and communities. 'About a little girl' is a poem about a family's doctor's concern, professional and personal, for a sick child and her family; and the gift of the poem to the mother of the little girl was a gracious act of friendship. The Lund family's gift of the poem to Southeast perpetuates such feelings, and all of us involved in the production of this book have come to share them as well. We hope that reading the book will draw others into an ever-widening circle of friendship like that begun years ago when a kind and sympathetic family physician was moved to write a poem about a beautiful little girl.
