In this, the second book by Jack Bushman, head of the 400,000-member Buckmasters deer hunting organization, you'll read two dozen true stories on the taking of trophy whitetail deer. Detailing hunts in such varied locales as ranches in northern Alberta, farm lands in southern Illinois, the mountains of Idaho and clover fields of Alabama, Bushman tells not only of trophy-sized bucks he has taken, but also of monster bucks by his young son and by Matthew, a seriously ill 11-year-old boy whom Jackie took on the hunt of a lifetime.

Most deer taken in these hunts were shot with rifles, although muzzleloaders and shotguns were used for a few of them. Each tale is different -- with different hunting conditions, different terrain, different tactics -- and, of course, different deer, all trophy deer that had eluded hunters for years, each sporting record-book-quality antlers, each knowing their home territory like you know your living room. How Jackie Bushman has been able to consistently take huge deer like this, year after year, in different states and provinces, is truly amazing. As you read through the stories, you follow Bushman's reasoning, his logic for making certain moves in certain situations, and you come to understand just why he has become one of the leading whitetail hunters in the world.

Following each story are sidebars on Keys to Success and Alternate Keys to Success. These tip boxes alone make the book a keeper to all hunters, as they reveal the tactics Jackie used to figure out each situation; plus, they tell other things Jackie might have done, had he not taken the buck.

Twenty-four stories in all, each illustrated with photos of the trophy buck as well as other photosand diagrams. If you're a member of Buckmasters or not, you'll appreciate Jackie Bushman's down-to-earth writing style -- and realize that that just as easily could have been you in that tree stand as Jackie.
