Just before she is sent off to a girls' college, Judy catches a glimpse of the mysterious man and, because of his long-legged silhouette, nicknames him "Daddy-Long-Legs."?After living away from the orphanage, becoming a successful writer, and continuing to write to Daddy-Long-Legs once a month, Judy finally meets her mysterious benefactor (and admirer) at the conclusion of the novel.
