Interview Transcript – Dr. Frank Dennis, the Founding Superintendent of Taitung Christian Hospital is a collaboration between the Institute of Taiwan History, Academia Sinica and Taitung Christian Hospital. The book intricately and vividly recorded how Dr. Frank Dennis— one of the recipients of the Third Medical Dedication Award— decided to be a missionary doctor in Taiwan, founded Taitung Christian Hospital, and dedicated his life to the people of Taitung, a remote, backward place in Eastern Taiwan back then. Dr. Dennis served in Taiwan for 33 years; he came at a time where medical resources were scarce, and continued to help the people till the country launched the National Health Insurance program, which gave people access to universal, affordable, high-quality healthcare. The book showcases an epitome of the history of modern medicine in Taiwan, and allows readers to see how Dr. Dennis worked with God and had a satisfying life.
