Fruit Is the Proof

The subject verse of this study both intrigues and scares us, right? But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23 NIV This verse has always intrigued me. There is a world of challenges that humans face with this verse. I mean, really...are we full of love, joy and peace? Are we kind, good and faithful? Are we truly gentle and self-controlled? The truth is a big fat "No." While we would all love to beall of these things all of the time or would love to just be some of these things some of the time, are we truly capable of it? Sadly, no, that's the cold hard truth. Sadly, our human-ness wins out too much.But here's the thing. Somehow, we tend to miss that very important detail. It's just not any fruit. It is the fruit of the Spirit. The truth of the matter is that the fruit of the flesh is what comes most naturally for all of us. In our natural state, we are selfish and indulgent, anxious, unfaithful, spiteful, and jealous. Our flesh wars against the Spirit, just as drought, pests, weeds, and heat war against healthy plants in nature.Come along for a deep dive into the Spirit and his fruit.
