Appropriation in art challenges originality by reusing and recontextualizing existing ideas. Conceptual artists use it to critique culture, shifting the focus from craftsmanship to intellectual discourse. From Duchamp’s readymades to Pop Art, appropriation has shaped modern art movements. Inspired by this, I explored artistic appropriation, wrote many articles, and have published them as a book over the past five years.
