Dangerous Shenanigans: The Fall and Rise of a Commodities Trader is a fictionalized account narrated by Matt Peabody, the chief of Peabody and Wilkens, a commodities trading firm. It tells of the fall and rise of Jason Wellbridge, a first-rate futures trader accused of embezzling funds from his firm, whereupon he is promptly fired. In addition to being terminated from his employment, which leaves him destitute, Jason is banned for life from trading by federal authorities and compliance agencies. Matt seeks to resuscitate the now heavily boozing Jason and restore his reputation as a trader in hopes of getting his trading bans lifted. Matt wants Jason to work as a trader for Peabody and Wilkens, which desperately needs help. Jason's misdeeds are not as they look. Some schemes by a con man shed new light on Jason's troubles and could hurt his chances to redeem himself.
