The Autobiography of John C. Van Dyke

Van Dyke is known for The Desert and other books on the American West, for his friendships with the prominent men of his time--among them, Theodore Roosevelt, Mark Twain, and James A.M. Whistler-- and for his art criticism. His autobiography, recently discovered in a Victorian farmhouse in Cranbury, New Jersey, is made public for the first time, edited and with an introduction by Peter Wild (English, U. of Arizona).
