This love story takes place in pre-WWII Europe, first beginning in Panama in the summer of 1935, where Sonny James meets Annabella.  The character of Sonny James is a fictitious name of the author’s late father who kept a journal of his stay in Panama in 1935 and his ten-week bicycle trip though Europe with classmates from medical school in the summer of 1937. After Panama, there were two years of no communication—at least that’s what Sonny and Annabella thought. Each thought the other had gone their respective ways.  Annabella combines factual pre-WWII European history with this bittersweet love story.
