Papers in this collection were presented at the Human Ecology: Issues in the North lecture series at the University of Alberta during the Winter semester of 1991. Papers all share a dedication to the North and a profound concern for the issues facing Northerners today. Topics discussed include: traditional native nutrition and its role in the contemporary North; native spirituality; delivering complex health issues in the North; social problems, with an emphasis on child sexual abuse; development of government housing programs in the Northwest Territories; art of Inuit bird skin clothing; and, the environmental and social impacts upon the aboriginal peoples of the Soviet Far East.
