Contains the papers presented at the 27th Round Table of the Sociedad Mexicana de Antropología, held in Xalapa, Veracruz, in 2004. This volume was coordinated by researchers Celia Islas Jiménez, María Teresa Sánchez Valdés and Lourdes Suárez Diez and offers inedit aspects of the Pre-Columbian period and for the early years of the Conquest and Colony, including data on the festivities dedicated to mixteca goddess Xochipilli in the mexica calendar, the work of the Carmelitas Descalzos in New Spain and the a research work for a better understanding of the labor system in the mines.
