This guidebook describes mineral, rock, and fossil occurrences at collecting localities along the Trans Canada Highway and side routes from Sudbury, Ontario to Winnipeg, Manitoba. The collecting sites include mines, quarries, pits, rock outcrops road cuts, and shorelines. The collecting route is divided into four sections: Sudbury to Sault Ste. Marie, which includes the Sudbury and Elliot Lake mining camps; Sault Ste. Marie to Thunder Bay, with side trips to occurrences in the Wawa, Manitouwadge, and Beardmore-Geraldton-Longlac areas; Thunder Bay to the Manitoba border, with side trips to Sturgeon Lake, Sioux Lookout, and Red Lake; and the Ontario/Manitoba border to Winnipeg, including the Winnipeg River pegmatite field. The final sections include a directory of mineral & rock displays and a glossary of mineralogical terms.
