My sister and I are the only survivors of the black heirs of the Confederate General "Stonewall" Jackson. Katie, my sister Lucille, my brother Jimmy and myself were all gifted by the quirky, off-kilter spirit of the famous general. Each of us inherited his burning ambition, his religiosity, his foolhardiness, and his brazen sexuality. I went ape with the sexuality. For me, the specter of Jackson always hovered in the background. From the roaring twenties to the here and now, it has been a difficult but exciting journey for Katie and me. Sadly, it is time for the flip side. There will be a quiet ride to a quieter cemetery, hopefully with a view.
