Sourcebook of Alternative Technologies for Freshwater Augmentation in West Asia
Preview available
The West Asian Region is characterized by its aridity and vast deserts where water evaporates quickly or is absorbed into the soil before it can be properly used or contained. Throughout history inhabitants of this region have developed technologies to capture and keep water, making the best out of the smallest available amount. With higher water demand and declining availability of water per capita, the identification of alternative sources of freshwater has become a priority in this region. This sourcebook provides a comprehensive description of the existing technologies available in West Asia so that decision makers, government and non-governmental organizations can use it as a reference to promote the sound planning and management of freshwater resources in this region.
