It is more than 30 years since the death of Le Corbusier, "the architect of the century". And yet for all the recognition his work has received both during his lifetime and since, he is still the subject of controversy and polemic. Concepts of architecture and town planning have been continuously and often dramatically revised since the early optimism of the Ville Radieuse, and now that many people have lived their lives in his buildings, it is time to look again at Le Corbusier's work and to re-examine its meaning for us.

This book offers a fresh and candid view of some of the masterpieces of modern architecture, as well as bringing some of Le Corbusier's less famous works into a new light. Among the buildings featured are the Villa Schwob in La Chaux-de-Fonds, the Villa La Roche in Paris, the Weissenhof complex in Stuttgart, the Villa Savoye in Poissy, the Clarte building in Geneva, the Unite d'habitation in Marseilles, the city of Chandigarh in India, La Tourette convent and Le Corbusier's amazing log-cabin, the Cabanon in Cap-Martin, France.
