The Adkisson Family of Great Britain and America

Sampson/Simon Atkinson (1606-after 1679) and his second wife, Ellinor Trowhare, of Lazonby, Cumberland, England, immigrated to America in 1679 and settled in Somerset County, Maryland, with his son, Timothy Atkinson (1662-1736), and possibly other children. Descendants listed lived in Virginia, Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma and elsewhere. Some descendants spell their surname Adkisson, Adkison or Adkerson.
