The Hispanic 100

By the year 2000, Spanish-speaking people will be the largest single minority in the United States. And before the middle of the next century, one out of three Americans will be of Hispanic or Latino ancestry. Still, very little is known in mainstream America - including our schools - about our Hispanic heroes and heroines and the enormous impact these sung and unsung Americans have had on our country from its earliest days. The Hispanic 100 celebrates and ranks those men and women from every walk of life who have made outstanding contributions to many fields of endeavor - science, education, government, labor relations, entertainment, and the myriad other avenues of American life.
