The Scientific Review Committee was established to review scientific evidence from the public health perspective in order to revise the Nutrition Recommendations for Canadians. The nutrition recommendations presented in this report were based on a combined review of nutrient requirements and nutrient/disease relationships. Discusses nutrition and disease; recommended nutrient intakes (carbohydrates, fiber, lipids, cholesterol, protein, fat-soluble vitamins, water-soluble vitamins, minerals, electrolytes and water), and non-essential dietary components (alcohol, aluminum, aspartame, and caffeine).
