Western Christians have inherited an excessively rational tradition of spirituality and excessively rational approaches to God. To counter or balance this, the authors propose a kind of Western "yoga" based upon certain neglected elements in the Judaeo-Christian tradition. Through the practice of focusing, the authors propose a practical method of body consciousness, a searching for bodily awareness, that is in fact a spiritual way of knowing -- not with our minds alone, but with our bodies.
