Having worked as a carpenter and photographer, and as an editor for both the early Whole Earth Catalog and Domebook 2 in the 1960s, Kahn set out in the '70s with a camera and notebook to document building traditions throughout the world as well as countercultural life in the U.S. Shelter recounts his memorable experiences.
