From Modernism to Neobaroque

This book examiines the historical and intertextual relationship between European modernism and neobaroque Latin American literature by means of a comparative analysis of the works of Jose Lezama Lima and James Joyce. Revising concepts such as influence, imitation, and appropriation, it portrays modernism as a world aesthetic rather than a Euro-centred movement.
