Thomas A. Goodyknow/Goodynow/Goodenow (ca. 1555-1617/18), and his wife, Ursala Fayme/Hayme/Hayne, had nine children. He died at Dunhead, St. Andrews, Wiltshire, England. Five of his children immigrated to New England from Wiltshire and Dorsetshire, England, and settled first at Sudbury, Massachusetts. Descendants of his sons, Thomas Goodenow (ca. 1608-1666) and Capt. Edmund Goodenow (ca. 1611-1688) lived in Massachusetts, New Jersey, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, New York, Illinois, Iowa, and elsewhere. The surname is spelled Goodenow, Goodenough, Goodnough, Goodno, Goodnow, and other variant spellings.
